Why it Matters
I began to formulate this idea based on my past experiences with very intense trips that were thought out, but not really. I neglected to take into consideration the time difference after a flight that lasted between thirteen to fifteen hours, sometimes more, over endless miles of ocean. It didn’t even occur to me that I would need to rest, and get acclimated to an entirely different culture that had a different speed and initial level of acceptance of travelers. The fact that I popped an edible right before I hit the security check, and it decided to kick in somewhere beyond New York and over the Atlantic Ocean, soaring over nothing but water, while attempting to interface with a very stoic, six foot two flight attendant that I kept staring at because I was convinced he knew, that I knew, that he knew I was completely overtaken by the gummy I ingested and we’d be forced to turn the plane around for an emergency landing and I would end up in federal prison. I learned these lessons the hard way, after falling apart when I landed in my first foreign country. That run on sentence there? That’s exactly how fast my mind was racing.
You don’t have to do what I did. You can travel as your very best relaxed self if you plan ahead, build in some time to reflect, take it easy and realize that you’re human and not an influencer so, you don’t have to go, go, go. This journey around the globe is your beautiful adventure and you can and will make it your own wild story.
This ultimately matters because as I’ve mentioned throughout this website, travel can transform you, humble you, increase your capacity to learn, make you a compassionate person with your fellow humans and can turn your head up to behold an existence beyond your world back home.
